The delegation visited the leading centres, laboratories and auditoriums: Internet of Things Laboratory, IPTV and perception quality laboratory, Flying Sensor Networks laboratory, Laboratory of Virtual Reality, Mediacentre and others.
Honorable guests were also invited to the meeting with the Academic Board of the University. In his welcoming speech Oleg Dukhovnitsky noted the importance of the meeting at SPbSUT on such level on the eve of the 85th anniversary of the leading University in Communication Industry. The issues of modern infocommunications development and role of universities in ITU activities were discussed during the meeting.
Houlin Zhao pointed out that in due time he used to put a lot of efforts to enable academia to become members of ITU. Universities began to join ITU in 2011, and SPbSUT was among the first ones. Relations between companies and universities are considered to be a mutually beneficial cooperation, which promotes experience exchange, creative and scientific potential development.
Houlin Zhao also noted that his predecessor Dr. Hamadoun Touré who was the Secretary General of ITU in the period of 2007-2014, is a graduate of SPbSUT (“Bonch”). Thus “Bonch” trains not only ordinary specialists but also leading top managers of national and international organizations and institutions.
The participants expressed confidence in fostering cooperation between ITU, Federal Communication Agency and the Bonch- Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunication. Thus this cooperation is expected to influence on the development of ICT and to the processes of telecommunication industry standardization.
